Most cars are done in one to three hours depending on the number of windows and vehicle type. Larger SUVs and utes with more glass take a bit longer. We will give you a specific time estimate when you book. Most customers drop their car off and pick it up the same day.
A professionally installed ceramic film will last anywhere from 10 years to the life of the vehicle when cared for properly. Standard dyed films typically last five to seven years before they can start to fade or purple. The film tier you choose directly affects longevity — ceramic films are significantly more stable over time.
Yes, within specific limits. NZ regulations require a minimum of 35% visible light transmission (VLT) on front side windows and the windscreen must remain untinted except for a visor strip. Rear windows and the back windscreen can generally be darker. Ace Auto Valet installs film that meets NZ road legal requirements — we will advise you on the right shade for each window.
For the first week after installation, avoid winding down your windows and do not clean the inside of the glass. After that, use a soft microfibre cloth with a mild, ammonia-free cleaner. Ammonia-based cleaners will degrade the film over time. Ceramic film in particular is very easy to maintain — it resists scratching better than standard dyed film.
Standard and dyed films have no effect on signals. Metallic films can occasionally interfere with GPS and mobile reception, which is why we offer ceramic options. Ceramic film contains no metal particles, so it has zero interference with any in-car electronics, satellite navigation, or keyless systems. If you rely heavily on tech in your vehicle, ceramic is the right call.
Yes, noticeably. Ceramic film rejects significantly more heat than standard dyed film, especially infrared heat — the kind you feel on your skin.
